History
Established in 1897, as the Seventh-day Adventist college in Australia, as such Avondale College of Higher Education now offers undergraduate, postgraduate and vocational courses. Avondale has two campuses, both in New South Wales. The Lake Macquarie campus is in a rural setting in the town of Cooranbong. The Sydney campus, home to the Discipline of Nursing and Health, is in the North Shore suburb of Wahroonga, adjacent to the Sydney Adventist Hospital, the largest single campus private hospital in the state.

The Lake Macquarie Campus is built on the Avondale Estate, a country property of approximately 325 hectares on the coastal plain about 120 km north of Sydney in New South Wales, Australia.

Accreditation
Avondale College of Higher Education enjoys a self-accrediting status and is nationally registered with the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency (TEQSA). Avondale’s programs enjoying different accreditations and registration levels, on a program by program bases, from the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency (TEQSA), the Board of Studies, Teaching and Education Standards (BOSTES), and the Australian Children’s Education & Care Quality Authority (ACECQA).
Courses at Avondale College include undergraduate degrees in humanities and the creative arts, business, education, nursing, science and mathematics, and ministry and theology. Postgraduate masters degrees, by both coursework and research, are available in many of the same areas. Doctoral degrees are available in education, health studies, history, and ministry and theology. Avondale also offers a higher education Diploma of General Studies and vocational awards in outdoor recreation.
All Avondale higher-education graduates, graduate with a jointly-conferred award with Charles Sturt University. This means that anyone studying a higher degree at Avondale will graduate with a testamur that carries both the Avondale and CSU seal. They are in effect graduates of Avondale and Charles Sturt University.
Adventist Accreditation Association
Avondale College of Higher Education holds AAA accreditation since 1974 and is currently valid until 2019.
