Adventist University of the Philippines is located 50 kilometers south of Manila, in the Barangay of Putting Kahoy, Silang, Cavite.
History
Adventist University of the Philippines began with 30 students in 1917 as a training academy to prepare workers for the emerging church in the Philippines. Today, it has grown into a credible university with graduate programs yielding master’s and doctoral degrees in several fields, enrolling over 3,700 students from 43 countries. In 1979 the college moved to its present site from the metropolitan environment in Manila, and since then the institution has launched an infrastructure, comparable to prestigious universities within the country. In 1996 the government accorded university status to the institution.
Academic Information
Currently in addition to offering a bachelor’s degree program in 42 fields, the university offers master’s program in psychology, biology, business administration, education, public health, nursing, and religious education. The university also offers doctoral programs in public health, psychology, and educational administration. In 2005, the IBE authorized the university to begin the College of Dentistry program which currently has 189 students.
The Adventist University of the Philippines enjoys autonomous status from the Government of the Philippines. This status recognizes the meritorious performance of the University and its commitment to community service, and allows the institution freedom to operate community extension programs on its own. In addition to its accreditation from the Commission on Higher Education from the Government of Philippines (CHED), Association of Christian Schools, Colleges, and Universities – Accrediting Agencies Inc. (ACSCU-AAI), Philippine Association of Colleges and Universities Commission on Accreditation (PACUCOA), the university holds full accreditation from the Accrediting Association of Seventh-day Adventist Schools, Colleges, and Universities (AAA).
